Orlando Bloom announced as Liverpool Comic Con's headline guest

Actor Orlando Bloom has been announced as a the headline guest for the Comic Con festival in Liverpool.

The bi-annual event, taking place at the Exhibition Centre, on 4 to 5 May, celebrates different types of pop culture, from films to gaming and is expected to attract thousands to the city.

Bloom will join his Lord of the Ring co-stars at the convention.

Dr Who and Red Dwarf actors are among other famous faces confirmed.

Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, who all starred in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy alongside Bloom, are listed as "guests" on the event's website.

Catherine Tate and Craig Charles are also in the line-up.

Comic Con Liverpool will open at 09:00 BST on Saturday 4 May, closing at 18:00 on Sunday 5 May.
